FCV NEWS July 2020

Samuel and the FCV CHOIR

Time flies, doesn’t it? It’s hard to believe that it’s already July and we are half-way through the year! We have been doing lots of things at FCV to redeem the time, from chores and singing, to fun games, Bible lessons, and school. There are so many ways we could spend our time that we have to choose wisely.

One of the ways we try to use our time wisely is by winning souls for Christ! We make it our aim to share the gospel with each child at the Village and help them see they do not have all the time in the world to make the decision to come to Christ.

One child who came to know Christ this June is Samuel Bwalya. Samuel loves to spend his time singing for the Lord with his friends at the Village. His desire to sing for the Almighty, led him to ask so many questions about where he would spend eternity if he were to die today? With that fearful question bothering him, Samuel knew the answer was time for him to make things right and come to Christ. We praise the Lord for God’s work in Samuel and that he responded and became a child of God!

Today, Samuel is singing with a purpose and understanding that Christ lives in him. He wants many people to know that Christ came and died for us. One of the verses he has come to love is Philippians 1:21 which says; “For me to live is Christ, and to die is gain!”

Thank you for taking the time to pray for us and for your participation in this ministry. God bless you all!

FCV Is On Mission

Faith Children’s Village Orphanage affirms the statement in James 1:27… “Pure religion before God and the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their trouble and to keep oneself unspotted from the world.”

Faith Children’s Village Purpose Statement:

“Nurturing orphaned children in Zambia to be faithful and productive disciples of Jesus Christ.”

Faith Children’s Village Mission Statement:

To lead children into a relationship with Jesus Christ and disciple them to be Christ-like in actions and attitudes while equipping each child with life skills that will enable them to become productive Christian citizens.”

Faith Children’s Village Goals:

  1. To provide physical care and love for orphaned children. (Jas 1:27 – visit; lit. To relieve)
  2. To provide spiritual care for each child by placing them in an environment where they can come to know Jesus Christ as Savior and be discipled as His followers. (Mt 28:19, Deut 6:4-9)
  3. To provide educational training equal to the aptitude and ability of the individual child. (Ps. 78:72)
  4. To provide life training which will prepare the child for adulthood where he or she will find their own way in life and be faithful servants of God wherever they live. (Prov 22:6)
  5. To provide skill training for each child that will allow them to become self supporting adults. (Ps. 78:72b)

Would you please join us in asking God to allow Faith Children’s Village to achieve its mission to glorify God by equipping disciples of Jesus Christ!

FCV’s First College Graduate

Congratulations Maureen Tembo on Graduating from Physical Therapy School with a Diploma in Physical Therapy!

We are very excited about Maureen’s accomplishments and are very proud of all of her hard work and diligence that she exhibited to get to this place.  Maureen worked very hard all through school!

Maureen came to Faith Children’s Village fourteen years ago, when FCV was founded.  Growing up at the Village has afforded her the opportunity to receive a good education, loving care and discipleship.  In 2006, while attending school at Faith Baptist Church in Riverside, she came to recognize her sinful condition and repented and asked God for forgiveness, and surrendered her life to the Lord.  She strives to serve Him every day in all she does.

Please pray for Maureen, as she looks for employment as a Physical Therapist.  She is making preparations now in the job application process.  Thank you to the many who have invested in her life and have helped her to become successful in her walk with the Lord and in her education.  Please pray that she will go forth into this culture and make an impact for Christ!

A Time To Celebrate…

Ecclesiastes 3:1 says: “There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under heaven:”

Birthdays give us an opportunity to celebrate each individual child.  At the end of each month we take time at Faith Children’s Village to celebrate those children who have had a birthday during that month.

During the day’s activities we set aside time to have devotion or a special biblical message, worship in song, play organized games and finish with singing to the birthday children.  Last but not least, we all eat cake!!

We strive to take every opportunity to disciple the children of FCV.  We endeavor to demonstrate Christ’s love and care for our children in many ways and the birthday celebration is one way we do that.

This month we played “find the pom-pom”

and relay games, and the children had to work in teams to construct a giraffe out of pipe cleaners.

After the games, Brian Cameon shared a devotion from Matthew 25:14-30 on the Parable of the Talents.  It was a time of great encouragement for the children to utilize the gifts they have been uniquely given by God.

We recognize the privilege we have in caring for these precious children and we do not take for granted the opportunities we have to encourage and minister to them.  We are grateful for each person who makes this ministry possible.

Growing in the Grace and Knowledge of the Lord

Psalm 18 verse 2″The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer, my God, my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.”  Psalm 18 verse 19 “He brought me out into a broad place; he rescued me, because he delighted in me.”

Most of the children who come to Faith Children’s Village and call it home, come from heart-wrenching backgrounds.  As they are discipled, those who come to trust in Christ as their personal Lord and Savior can truly say “The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer…”  It is beautiful to see these precious ones take refuge in the Lord.

Two such children are Alright and Brenda V.  They have called FCV home since 2009.  Both of their parents passed away when they were very young.  The above psalm, in it’s entirety, is one that Brenda clings to and cherishes.  This sibling pair has thrived at the Village.

Alright is in Grade 11 at Kitwe Boys Secondary School.  He begins his days early and returns late in the afternoon.  He is a dedicated student.  In his spare time, he has learned to play the xylophone, guitar and violin  Alright also finds great joy in singing at Church.

Brenda attends Kakolo Basic School nearby and is in Grade 9.  She values time on Saturdays when she attends teen Bible Study.

Both Alright and Brenda have made salvation decisions and are striving to follow Gods instructions for their lives.

We are so very thankful to all those who have made a lasting impact in their lives.  We eagerly anticipate what the Lord will do in and through Alright and Brenda.
