Times of Zambia Newspaper
A 31 year old mother on Tuesday night allegedly stabbed her five year old daughter to death in Kitwe’s Riverside area.
Police spokesman Lemmy Kajoba confirmed the incident and said police has arrested the woman and charged her with murder.
He said the woman, told the police that she decided to kill her daughter because she did not want the daughter to be orphaned since she would die from tuberculosis (TB) she had contracted.
“This woman is suffering from TB and believes she will die soon. So she decided to kill her daughter before she dies because she does not want the daughter to suffer,” said Mr Kajoba.
He said the daughter was stabbed several times and killed at the home in Riverside and she kept the body inside the house.
The body was discovered by a servant yesterday morning when he reported for work.
“Police were informed by the servant who found the body in the house when he reported for work. The woman has been arrested and charged with murder,” he said.
NOTE: TB IS ONE OF THE MOST COMMON ILLNESSES CONTACTED BY HIV/AIDS PATIENTS.
